If you’ve listened to the album, viewed the cover art or watched the music video for Day One, there will be little doubt in your mind that Dan Webb’s latest album Oedipus The King is reflective of the times.
It should therefore come as no surprise that the new music video for “Look What’s Become of You” carries with it a pointed message.
“The sad thing is, we actually made this video months ago, with the expectation Trump was going to wind back environmental protections at some point, sooner or later,” Dan explains. “It may not be a huge platform, but as a musician I do have a platform and I feel I’ve got a moral obligation to draw attention to major issues such as climate change.”
About the song, Dan says, “It just grew from a demo, in the style of a mantra. Very repetitive and deliberately so. I listened back to my Capitulation EP from 2009 the other day, I did a similar thing on Mad as a Hatter. Very repetitive… like Philip Glass. You can’t approach it as pop. There’s something more going on there. The main vocals for this track were from the original demo but I felt they were so calm, pensive and expressive that they didn’t need to be re-recorded.”
